This is very tough to get into.. Two seperate friends of mine recently tried... Both very involved in the surf industry and both have surfed at a national level.. So they had all the right contacts and knowledge. Unforchunately neither of them lasted more than 2 years before they packed it in. Scumbag companys like Seabase ain't gona make it easy for you either..

what about a stag as a logo... a symbol of peace and one with nature i.e. the waves... and is also a symbol of a long and healthy life.

Following on from what Poo said about something mathematical....
I know some folks have been designing boards based around ideas from the Fibonnaci series, and The Golden Mean. How about utilising Pi (3.14)?
I've done a Google search and it didn't throw up any other surf companies called Pi. If you want to appeal to the hot younger surfers out there who are into all the aerial variations, you could call the company "Pi In The Sky Surfboards"???

guys, i may be wrong in all this, but would'nt it be better to.... errrr.... shape some boards first before worrying about a logo, name or whatever.

unless of course you've got parents to bankroll your project then you can get some far eastern factory to sell you a generic product with whatever bloody badge you want on em.
