Hi Kyle,

In all seriousness, have a first hand experience (or al least observe) from anyone involved in shaping near you to think if this is what you really want to do in your spare time. Also, don't forget to go out there and surf as much as you can; if you don't know how to play the game, then you won't know how to shape the game (excuse the pun)...

There was a post in the "excellent beginners guide" thread under "Surfboards - Shaping and Board Design" section, might be worth considering??:

i am going to host a workshop with rich blundell (treetosea) in our place in pembrokeshire/wales.
he will teach how to build a hollow wooden surfboard with his strip and feather method.
no woodworking skills needed. paulownia and cedar will be provided.
date will be half term in february next year.
25.02.-27.02.2011
price depends on the length of the surfboard that is build.
