Dawn patrol with Harki & the Janny - some decent ones, some wee ones, some comedy dismounts

Surfed a spot we used to surf a few years ago - big storm had dumped loads of gravel in a wee bay and it stopped working, bigger storm sooked it back out to sea again - now working but the take-off is in thigh high water over some big boulders that didn't used to be there

overhead big blustery peaks sunday morning, with me and one other. had to time the paddle, was a freaking endless conveyor belt of white water, but i got out easily.

got 3 waves within the hour, been ill all week so no energy. got out after being swept about 500m down the other end of the beach...good to get out again though.

Been PUMPING here in Pembrokeshire. Solid 4-10' depending upon what you fancy taking on. Sunny, warm and offshore. Tidy like.

Posting here as not worth a new thread.
First time bodyboarding in ten years (when I did my knee in) and probably ten years before that previously too. Hmmm, kind of fun, yeah it was ok. Bouncy as hell though and all that spray in the face! Couldn't really tell I'd done any exercise when I got out apart from ankles. Would do again and try some other craft too. Not as good as surfing but higher wave count helps and more relaxing somehow.

I do that from time to time, if my surfing has gone to shit or I feel like my wave count isn't high enough an afternoon on a sponge normally calms me back down, can pretty much pick and choose any wave you want

The only time I would ever consider using a sponge is for big barrels that are out of my league to make on a stand up otherwise fuck no.

What's the water temp up there now? What thickness wetsuit you boys in and still wearing gloves? I've been in gloves up until now here in Pembs but after this last week of glorious weather I'll venture in today sans gloves. Dunoo what water temp is here but assume 9-10C.

^^ we were in yesterday , still in winter suits but I was chucking water down my neck as was toasting. Discussing summer suits but our summer suits are 4/3. Not quite ready for no gloves but will be soon.

Water temp where I am on west coast is 9 and a bit DegC , East Coast a wee bit colder at 8 DegC

I was in last week on Wednesday and weather had turned so cold and grey. However I went in without gloves and it was COLD. In water for 1.5hrs so bearable but only just. Hopefully water start warming up soon, pity about weather as last week was superb. Still in hooded winter suit, next step is my 5/4/3 hoodless then into 3/2 when summer actually arrives. Maybe a few months july-sept no boots.

Surfed today, not giving in! First stoke surf of the year despite useless back, thumping headache & curly cramping toes - caught waves & got to my feet & executed a few turns despite timing issues, maybe its not all over yet, I don't know?

Today is pumping. Managed to get in this morning after a few anti-inflammatories, managed a half decent surf - good waves make all the difference (and a body that just about functions). Stoke that I'm not a total write-off yet :-)

Was in work today (and can't surf now as wife hurt her foot so looking after her). Anyway, surfed twice yesterday BUT despite plenty of swell, was really v poor shape to be honest. Lovely in sun and warm but ultimately surf not great.

In biarritz.. plenty of swell (dying today before big lump heading in overnight) lots of fun warm water waves at malady/ilbiarritz to escape the crowds with an early morning strike to grand plage. Stoked and frazzled!

Can’t beat a summer surf, howling cross shore winds, massive lumpy seas and a friggen hailstorm

Twas completely blinded by the combo of hail, chop and spray

Winds and hail dropped for a minute and a big blue wall appeared - only thing for it Twas to close ma eyes, paddle and pray  board took off and I found myself charging down a massive left wall on a right point into sweat oblivion - fecken joyous screamer of a wave and out of the water to a km track to the car over slippy rocky reef

:-D :-D :-D
